Hi, I'm building the exact same functionality in D7 for panels + page manager. Do you think there's a way we could merge the two projects into one?

Hi Jen,

This module is a plugin for the Context module. I don't think they can be made compatible. Do you agree?

I think most of the actual guts of the modules will be the same. We could do a context plugin (for context module) and a ctools context for panels, and package them up together. In theory :)

I'll take a stab at it and let you know what I find out. if it looks possible, I'll send some patches.

Yes, context and panels are different but both use ctools, so shouldn't take much to do this.
