I have made a patch for the views-package itself to give the user the chance to provide some parameters to the views-theming function to better control the display result (see http://drupal.org/node/126570), but it seems this functionality isn't wanted in the views package itself.

Would you be interested in having this feature as part of the views bonus pack module?

Or are you just waiting for code? I only wanted to get an idea if code for this feature would be welcome here, or if I should start a new module ...

This version of Views Bonus Pack is not supported anymore. The issue is closed for this reason.
Please upgrade to a supported version and feel free to reopen the issue on the new version if applicable.
