There should be a way to specify exceptions to the theme switch in the administration form.

I have a simple patch for this feature and here it is...

BTW, do I get the idea correctly? The proposed patch is intended to exclude specified paths out of theme switching, right?

I have a feeling that this functionality is a bit out of the scope of this module. It doesn't really correlate with role, and targets mostly paths. And there is another module - Sections (http://drupal.org/project/sections), that implements this functionality.
