Get help completing your contributor task

Last updated on

You may find that the task you have chosen from the Contributor Guide Find a Task page has left out some steps, has made some assumptions, or is using terminology that you don't understand. Don't panic! There are members of the Drupal community who are available to help you figure out the task -- either now or in the near future.

If you find information that might be useful to the next person who tries to complete the same task, edit the task to add this information, or ask the person who helped you if they can edit the task (or suggest how you might edit it). There should be an edit link at the top of the task page.

Online Chat

The Drupal community uses both Slack and DrupalChat for instantaneous on-line chatting. To use either service, you will need to get an account, connect, and then find a channel where you can ask questions about contributing and completing your task. (For instance, if you are working on documentation, you might want to join the documentation channel; for general contributing, use the general contributing channel.) Contribution events

DrupalCon and (some) regional "camp" events have dedicated contribution days, usually the day before or after the main conference. There are also Global Contribution Day events, where people gather on-line and in-person to contribute, and sometimes there are other special contribution days. At many contribution days, there are mentors present who can help you get started or complete tasks.

The groups.drupal.org events calendar or the community event page are the central places to find events. Or, join your regional group on groups.drupal.org, where events in your region should be announced.
