Hi not sure if this a duplicate problem. I have done a search but found nothing. If I upload a video and save the node I get an image showing a film strip with no video to play. I can’t see where I have gone wrong with this. I have YouTube videos working with embed option but uploading videos gives me no joy.
Running Media: Vimeo
Thank you for your time enjoy the day further.

richardtmorgan commentedI have spent a couple of days trying to get Media embedding images, YouTube etc... inline within CKEditor.
I can't tell you how frustrated I am.
YouTube won't embed (I get your issue - just the preview image); Under Media File Types, when you disable a display type it doesn't disable, so once something is enabled you are stuck with it; YouTube Media won't even uninstall (you have to delete the module from your webspace manually, replace it with the dev version and then uninstall it).
The images 'format' doesn't correspond to image styles (image cache as was) so you have to go through the convoluted process of setting up display settings for each of 'link',, 'preview', 'large' etc... - but this affects other display settings on the site as well as being unbelievably round the houses.
Adding other files (like a nice link to a pdf ??) just embeds the image file of the pdf icon. No solution to this. My audio files can be set up with an audio player as the display type - but this breaks before the embedding takes place.

After two days, Media seems the least fit for purpose module I've ever come across on Drupal - it's adding extra layers of abstraction to media files which are simply not required and which it fails to implement in a satisfactory fashion.
--
It's a great shame that ImageBrowser has not got a D7 upgrade - it, at least, handled image embedding in an exemplary fashion - really good UI etc.
--
I'm going to write off the last two day, uninstall Media and check out IMCE or something else for handling uploads and images, and teach the website users to use the source view of the text editor and the embed code from YouTube to insert YouTube videos. This will represent quite a backwards step from D6 with ImageBrowser in terms of usability.
--
I can't help feeling that Media is fundamentally ill conceived. Rather than defining its own file display types, it should present whatever the exisiting field formatting options are for the various field types, and present these as the options (with the ability to switch some of these off per content type...) without requiring an intermediate layer.
Regardless of weaknesses of design, the code does not yet work to a level that would justify an alpha release - they should go back to the drawing board.

rant over - excuse my comments to the extent that they're borne of two days of frustration. All I'm looking for is a seamless UI for embedding video, images, audio and text file links into a post. Media so promised that it could do this. It cannot.

a6hiji7 commentedI am getting the exact same feelings as you. Youtube videos never show up in node pages and the module "saves" the Youtube video in the Library, which seems meaningless.
Media just does not work. I really hope for a D7 version of the excellent Emfield module.

dave reidHint: You have to configure the 'Video' file type to be displayed in the ways that you want it to at admin/config/media/file-types/manage/video/file-display
