I am using a Godaddy ecomony hosting account. I am using the latest version of drupal. When I click the translate button nothing happens.
you can view my site at http://www.zoeiv.org/site/

Is there a time period on how long the module has to activated in order for it to work?

I have another site with a godaddy account and the translator works fine.

Any extra info might help:
Active modules on both sites?

Took a look at the code for the module file, and the IP for Google translate only points to Google's main page, so it's not finding anything to connect to. The log files as well say that every translation attempt failed, and that the return value was nothing.

I'm also having similar problem.

http://haiti.manageserver2.info
In log the error message is

Attempt failed to translate page /haiti/article/top-story/test-top-story to Deutsch: No content from Google Translate server

Edit: I have tested with both 1.4 and dev.

Same problem, Drupal 5.5, PHP 5.2.5, MySQL 5.0.45, Apache/2 webserver. I've got a ton of modules installed but not one of them messes with the language or the way the page displays. Everything was correctly installed and such. If I translate my website manually from the Google Translate page, it works just fine.

I am closing this issue, since Drupal 5 and Drupal 6 are now not supported.
