Things that could prevent the homepage from showing
- Do you have the homepage of you site set to go to node (default frontpage) in /admin/settings/site-information or is it set t a different URL? temporarily point t to the path of one of your new pages and see it will start resolving to it instead of 404
- Did you install Drupal in a folder? If so, did you update the $base_url in settings.php?
- Let me know if you are still not able to find a solution, and provide more information so that I can troubleshoot for you.

Same Problem Here - no front page, but everything else works.
---The problem described below did not duplicate on IE, and, after that it spontaneously vanished on FF-kw--
I'm having the same problem. Everything works fine on the main site. I copied everything into a testing site, changed everything in the settings folder, made a copy of the database, pointed to that, etc.
Everything on the test site works just like the main site, except when I go to the homepage I just get the message "Apache is functioning normally".
Any ideas?
Thanks,
- Ken
