Monitoring your platform with a sentinel
Last updated on
30 April 2025
We find it useful to have a special site for each platform to help you watch modules and themes updates. We (arbitrarily) call this site a "sentinel".
To configure a sentinel website:
- Create a new site in the platform you want to monitor.
- In Drupal 6: Enable the Update status advanced settings module.
- Configure the 'Available updates' settings:
- Check mark at 'Check for updates of disabled modules and themes'.
- Write your email address in 'E-mail addresses to be notified when updates are available' (if you want to).
- Save this configuration.
You are now ready to visit the 'Available updates' page at 'admin/reports/updates' and watch for new versions, and have a quick link to new releases and release notes.
If you would prefer a centralized dashboard, you could use Update status aggregator (though it doesn't have a Drupal 7 version for now).
