How do i get a download section

I looked into the module download section but could not really find a module for this.
Can someone please link me to a good download module.
I want to give free tools and softwares for download. I also want to have the capability to to make the downloads only for registered users

Disknode (http://drupal.org/project/disknode) was promising but sadly not updated for Drupal 5 yet (or is it abondened?). Anyway have you tried fileshare (http://drupal.org/project/fileshare) module?
