was not properly switching between non and secure pages

Disclaimer: I was using the securepages first but for some reason overnight the pages that were non-secure became secure and the secure pages became non-secure, so I switched to this module.

I'm not sure if it's because I switched it (maybe I didn't properly uninstall securepages?), but the uc ssl module was not working properly either. I was only able to get all the pages secure or none of them.

Am I supposed to keep the

# Mixed session handling from https:// with http://
  $conf['https'] = TRUE;

in the settings.php? I didn't read anything about needing it there for this module, so I took it out?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
