Am upgrading from 4.7.2 to 5.1 . Have all sorts of problems but have now loaded all the files and run the upgrade script etc. But when I try to access the site at www.example.com my browser send this error message

"The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

The url resolves to www.example.com/intall php

Would really appreciate suggestions as to how to remedy

For the most trouble-free transition from an existing installation, it is recommended that you first upgrade to Drupal 4.7.5 or Drupal 5.0. If you are upgrading from Drupal 4.5.x or below, please consult the Drupal 4.6.0 release announcement. As with any upgrade, it is a good idea to back up your site and database first.

The above is quoted from the 5.1 release thread. That said, I would revert to your back up that you should have taken "before" the upgrade, and get your site to 5.0 first, although when i was updated/upgraded; i worked up to 4.7.6 first, then to 5.0, than to 5.1, to insure no steps were missed in the process.
