Custom CCK widget field values are lost after 2 steps.

Hi,
i have custom cck widget type form field on first step i.e one textfiled and two dropdowns in signle field.When i saving it in first step values are getting saved . But when i submit second step fields then my custom cck widget type form field values of first step are getting lost while core cck form field values of that 1st are getting saved. is there any code or some lines i need to add in my custom widget type module to preserve values ?
