We would be very interested in seeing the userbadge module conform to the emerging "Open Badge Infrastructure" by Mozilla.

This project has MacArthur Foundation backing (Phase 2 offers dollars for infrastructure builds) and is attached to the Digital Media and Learning Competition, which looks to drive many more players into this space. If Drupal can offer robust support of learner-driven badging communities, it could become the CMS of choice for the many cultural and educational organizations that need to be able to manage and issue learner badges.
My organization will be applying for Phase 1 and is seeking a development partner for Phase 2. Please contact me via my profile if you or your shop are interested in helping. Please comment below if you or your organization have a shared interest in seeing this functionality built.

gregglesFor anyone who finds this and is looking for other options:
Achievements Mozilla Open Badges Bridge - A Drupal 7 module that leverages achievements.
Open Badges - A Drupal 6 fork of User Badges that does open badges.

nancydruThanks, Greg. I would encourage them to join forces here. We can always use more maintainers.

gregglesSure, that's always an option as well.

zeth commentedThis is the first public module I'm working on, so at this point general suggestions are definitely welcome. We don't have this on a production box yet, and I think we'll want to make some tweaks as we get closer to completing our project, but in this fairly simple form it's functional for us...

nancydruAlways run it through the Coder module.
