This might seem obvious to those that are used to this but I could do with some advice here.
I am thinking of writing a new module based up Image Cache and Fields using Javascript to create new sideshows and features for Drupal.
I have my copies of Development books but what I really need is someone to check my code against for my first versions, give me direction on setting things up in a drupal way. Someone who may not need to give lots of time but maybe answer some of the noobish questions I will have.
Is there a place that I can find this type of mentoring help?
Thanks,
Ed

I am interested in what kind of informal help may be as I could do with some too!
But there are way too many slideshows for Drupal, don't you think? Have you looked at all the existing ones? Maybe contribute to one of them, rather than writing yet another.

maybe
You might be right about two many slideshows that do the same thing and I think thats well coverd, however you only have to look at wordpress to see that there is far more diffrent types that are converted quite quickly.
Maybe you are right and look to some current modules as a maintainer, I think it would have been ideal to learn by dropping in at the deep end rather than trying to understand code that is already written.
not sure
They say you learn by reading a lot of Drupal code.
There are loads of great Drupal 6 modules which have not been ported, or have been but are not being very actively maintained, probably because their creators moved on to other things.

Thanks
Thanks for your replies its much appreciated .
I think I might try a bit of both, see whats not ported and look to become a co maintainer and then add a module of my own and see if i can get help as i am going along.
