This module is great. Thanks.

If I understand correctly it allows a node author to set viewing permission by role or by user.

Will it be possible to extend it a bit so the node author will be able to set permission to EDIT the node in the same way?

Another great feature will be if he could select from a list of his contacts.
It could be handy if you want to start a collaborative document for example.

If you are not interested in doing this but could give me some guide for a starting point I`ll appreciate it.

Try the regular Taxonomy Access Control module (not lite). It has more features, including control over edit (in addition to read) permission.
