Could we get the option to disable autodiscovery on a per post basis? Having it on is annoying if you create a story/page/whatever that contains links to other posts on your site and then those other posts get trackback entries that really have no need to be there.

Optionally the ability to turn off auto-discovery site-wide via an admin option would be nice. I've never liked the autodiscovery feature in any implementation of trackback I've ever seen and the choice to just get rid of it would rock. :-)

It sounds like what you really want is to disable intra-site trackbacks, right?

Partly, yes. I'd still like the ability to simply turn the option off. If I want to send a trackback I'll input the proper URL manually. I've never seen a reason for doing it automatically since sometimes I may not want to send a trackback.

I would also like to see this ability to disable auto trackback. The feature is buggy, often indiscriminately pinging the wrong posts on sites. If you trackback to a post that is not the most recent, autotrackback will ping the latest post as well, placing your trackback comment on their site under an unrelated post.

I'm not much of a php programmer, but if someone could point out the relevant code, I could just delete it myself for now.

Thanks!

Yes, I second the plead to help us fix this! Even if I link to someone's main page -- just their blog, not a particular post -- it will pick a random post to send a trackback to. It's a little embarrassing. Please help.
