Instead of having just a text like -Any- for the default select field. Can we assign a default taxonomy instead?

I am still trying to figure this out. Can someone help please? I would the first taxonomy on my dropdown list to be the default instead of -Any-. Thank.

Looks like this issue has been fixed in 7x core. We will be able to use -Any- for taxonomy according to this thread #735426: Fields with select widget: first option is selected by default even if no 'default value' set for the field. Unfortunately some of my main modules don't have a 7x version yet.
