I tried using this module and it just gives me the error "getTextarea is not defined" and doesn't do anything useful. Plus, it showed the "Quote" link on every single node type, even though I had it set to only be on forum nodes/comments.

So I want to uninstall it. But I can't get the "Quote" link out of $links. I've disabled the module, deleted all the module files, deleted the references to Quote out of the variables table, and cleared my cache. Still I have "Quote" showing up on my nodes and comments.

Any suggestions on getting rid of this?

I'm posting here because this may be the same problem and it seems like a bug to me so I've changed the category accordingly.

I currently have the "Quote" link twice. One works and the other doesn't do anything (that is visible at least). The one that works links to comment/reply/*?quote=1. The other links to "javascript:void(null);".

While I'm not sure of this, the first "Quote" link may have come from a previous installation of the module. But again, I am not sure of this. Perhaps I have/had another module that makes a "Quote" link?

Anyway, it would be nice to know how to remove that extra "Quote" link and perhaps other leftovers?

Ack, my bad on this one. I found the problem weeks after I posted this and forgot about this issue. It turns out that the quote links all over the place were due to the bbcode formatting bar module and not the quote module at all, which explains why they remained even though I obliterated all traces of the quote module.

Before I go changing any of the settings on this issue, DawnLight, could you tell me if you have the bbcode formatting bar module installed? If so, then I think we can close this off the quote module.

I do have that module. That explains it... I'll just purge it - it doesn't even work and it has too little buttons..... ... Disabling it removed that extra link.

So what if I want both of these modules? One is going to have to know about the existence of the other, or, another option is for the BBCode formatting bar to provide the "Quote" link functionality. It already provides the filter and the link but the link seems to only be able to put the text in when you are already in the comment form, and it doesn't do anything when you're not.

Well, BBCode Formatting Bar's last release was feb so I don't expect much of it and I won't be using it until it's better. I really want a BBCode Formatting Bar though...

I'm in the same boat. The bbcode formatting bar is the best solution I've found for end users that avoids using a WYSIWYG but I ended up dumping it because of all the quote links it put everywhere (including in the calendar view of events for some reason).

I don't have a solution, but I'm going to set this as fixed on this issue since it turns out to not be the quote module at fault. Probably the best bet would be to open a new issue on the bbcode bar queue.
