Flickr UID: ID or filter?

When I'm creating a slideshow and I enter my Flickr User ID, is that just to identify myself to Flickr, or does it narrow the photos down to just my own stuff? Because when I enter it and put "Easter" in the tag field, I get a show of total strangers in bunny costumes!
But if I enter "easter, firstlutherannashville" and select "All tags," nothing comes up, even though "easter AND firstlutherannashville" works just fine on Flickr's own site.
Is the tag behavior a little quirky, or am I just unclear on the concept?

Well, I figured out part of the problem. My Flickr account hasn't been reviewed, so I can't access my pictures by keyword alone. The test search works on my account page, but not on the main Flickr page.
But I'm still curious about the function of the Flickr UID.
