Take preset: og_private for example,

Seems to me that:
1) there is no front page configuration in : admin/build/spaces/list/og_private/edit
2) the only way to setup the front page is to:
a) create a group with preset : og_private
b) edit the front page setting in : [mygroup-purl-prefix]/node/[nid]/features
c) Save settings to Private Group.

I am wondering why spaces og does not provide the configuration in: admin/build/spaces/list/og_private/edit. It makes more sense to me than what we have now.

Please educate me if I am wrong about that.

You are correct. The way Spaces presets work is that any variable in the system could be part of the preset. frontpage is significant enough it should probably be in the form. It is basically just an oversight that nobody has previously opened an issue on.
