The link to the contact form now appears in my view when not logged in. But when I click it I go to the Contact tab for the user and get only this message...

You need to provide a valid e-mail address to contact other users. Please update your user information and try again.

Is there something I can do to get this working?

SOLVED: I installed Catcha/ReCaptcha and configured it for this form and it worked.

Op indicates problem solved.

Actually, that message should not appear if this module is correctly installed. Probably a cache clear was needed.
