In http://drupal.org/node/127808 a patch by mcarbone has been produced to move the head version of the petition module up to drupal 5.1

and in http://drupal.org/node/77533 a replacement module by levavie has been produced which allows the petition module to be a free standing module without the need for civiccrm to be installed

Would anyone be able to combine these two amendments so that there is a 5.1 version which does not need civiccrm installed

I have had a look at the patch mcarbone has produced but I doubt I'm capable of applying by hand to levavie's version of the module

So I would be most grateful if anybody else could manage this

It is possible, and this would be a good thing.

Merge the two patches, which would move the module into both 5.0 code AND remove the civicrm requirement.
