Hello,
On the front page for linkit module you have:
If you are using stand alone CKEditor, there is some more installation information in the editor dir.
CKEditor (/sites/all/modules/linkit/editors/ckeditor/README.txt)
yet that file does not exist. There is a readme within the fckeditor directory but nothing within ckeditor...
For the standalone ckeditor I have no idea how to enable this module. I've added it to the ckeditor toolbar but imagine there are other changes that need to be made. Can anyone guide me on this? or even better, can the proper readme file be included in the downloads?
Thanks!

Chad_Dupuis commentedThis post had most of it - http://drupal.org/node/722962#comment-3136952
But there are other steps such as editing the ckeditor profile and clicking to enable the plugin within there....
I'd be happy to write the readme, but I have a feeling it's already done just that it didn't make it into the download or something...

anonUpdate to the latest version if ckeditor module, and linkit (6.x-1.10).
Then you will have a checkbox under the toolbar configuration in CKeditor "Support for Linkit" or something simular.
There is no need for a readme file anymore, as you dont have to edit scripts and so on, and its a common situation to configure the editor when you install plugins to it.

robbm commentedThere still seems to be an issue here...
Installing version 6.x-1.8 of the ckEditor module (with version 3.6.2 of ckEditor itself) and version 6.x-1.10 of Linkit (under Drupal 6.22) then clicking "Support for Linkit module" does not appear to be enough to enable Linkit within ckEditor. (There's no Linkit icon to drag to the toolbar.)
The README.txt for Linkit describes additional steps to take, but they made no difference. I assume they should only apply to earlier versions of ckEditor anyway (so that may be a documentation update that is required.)
Conversely, the documentation for ckEditor suggests copying the plugin to ckEditor's plugins folder. But that didn't seem to work either.
(In each case, I cleared the cache and forced a reload of the JavaScript too.)
However, I'm not sure whether is really is a documentation issue, with more information being required on the additional steps to take, or whether there's a bug in the code for either module.

anon@Onein:
Yes, the documentation lacks a bit about the CKeditor in Linkit 6.x, thats true.
This is because there was some big changes about how the CKeditor module handled plugins from other modules.
Some time ago you had to change a settings file in the ckeditor module or even in the editor js lib, but now there is a hook you can use.
But still there is a big problem with this, (and its a ckeditor module issue as I see it). The problem is that the end user still have to do two(!) things to get the Linkit working, both check the checkbox and also inlcude the icon in the toolbar. If you have a plugin icon in the toolbar, its obvious that you also will enable that plugin, doh, but unfortunately thats not the case now.
If you managed to get it ot work, I would really appreciated if you could help me out here with the documentation.
Also, I change this issue to a task, as I dont see this as a bug for Linkit.

robbm commentedUnfortunately, I haven't been able to get it to work. Otherwise I'd be happy to help with the documentation.
However, the default ckeditor.config.js already includes the Linkit icon in the Full and Advanced toolbars, i.e.
['Link','Unlink','Anchor','Linkit','LinkToNode','LinkToMenu'],However, the Linkit icon doesn't appear when I go to the CKEditor profile configuration. This suggests that CKEditor can't tell that Linkit is installed, and therefore isn't displaying the icon.
Given that the Linkit icon is already in the toolbar configuration, should we have to do anything else (e.g. make additional changes to ckeditor.config.js, or copy the plugin files to the ckeditor folder) or should checking the checkbox be enough?

anonDont copy any files, what wont work at all.
Are you sure you have enabled Linkit? also, check the Linkit settings and see if that can give us a clue of this issue.
robbm commentedYes, it's enabled - specifically Linkit, Linkit Node, Linkit Views and Linkit Permissions.
"Display node id (nid)" and all content types are checked in the settings.
And I'm logged in as User 1.

tseven commentedI experienced the same issues as the users above. The fix for me was to use the dev version of both the standalone ckeditor and linkit module.

anonSo the dev version fix this.
