Hi
I have installed drupal 7.8 on my webhotel, and after that I have installed MediaElement.js 7.x 1-1 thinking that this would enable me to upload videos onto my drupal site. But when I try to use the Editor (CKEditor SWF 7.x-1.0-beta1) to upload my mov-files, it does not work. OK, I figured out that it is possibly because this edition of the CKEditor only allows swf-files to be uploaded. Choosing configure under MediaElement.js in modules tells me that The MediaElement.js library is not installed. Please download the library from MediaElementjs.com and place it in your libraries folder. But that is just what I have done! :-(
Or is it because it is only the mediaelement.js file that needs to be in the libraries folder?
(I do not have sufficient courage to play around in the folders of my website yet, so I have not tried moving files around in there).
I hope that someone can give me a not too complicated explanation about how I can get my mov-files into my website.
Sincerely
Mette

Have you installed BOTH the MediaElement Module from Drupal.org (version 7.x.1.1) AND the MediaElement.js from mediaelement.com (version 2.3.0)?
The module should go in /sites/all/modules/ and the download from mediaelement.com should go in a subdirectory named /mediaelement/ in /sites/all/libraries/
You should end up with /sites/all/libraries/mediaelement/medaielement.js ( and a bunch of other files there as well).

I have installed the MediaElement module (7.x.1.1) under sites/all/modules and the Media Elements.js under sites/all/libraries.

Still it does not work.

The Library is grayed out under Modules:

Libraries
7.x-1.0 Allows version dependent and shared usage of external libraries.
Required by: MediaElement.js (enabled)

MediaElement.js
7.x-1.1 Provide MediaElement.js to be used on the entire site or just with Filefields.

Configure

When I choose the Configure option under MediaElement.js, I get this message:

The MediaElement.js library is not installed. Please download the library from MediaElementjs.com and place it in your libraries folder.

Enable MediaElement.js site wide

I do not understand what is wrong.

I still cannot make it work. I wonder if I should make the changes to the .htaccess file mentioned down on the http://mediaelementjs.com/ website? I have tried to open the htaccess file in wordpad, but I cannot figure out where to insert

AddType video/ogg .ogv
AddType video/mp4 .mp4
AddType video/webm .webm

the next steps:

1
Add Scripts and Stylesheet
Download the latest source code from http://github.com/johndyer/mediaelement/

1
2
3

<script src="jquery.js"></script>
<script src="mediaelement-and-player.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="mediaelementplayer.css" />

2
Option A: Single h.264 file
If your users have JavaScript and Flash, this is the easist route for all browsers and mobile devices (the drawback is that h.264 is not fully open and only works in IE9 and Safari under HTML5.)

I do not understand at all.

Do I need to make changes to the files I have downloaded?

If that is the case, I think it is probably too complicated for me.

Sincerely

Mette

Must people just upload to Youtube or Vimeo etc and embed the video. If you are renting the kind of server power you need to host video streaming yourself, you might try Video Module. Clearly it is not going to work, and is probably not allowed on a shared hosting package, which I assume is what you mean by webhotel. Also googling 'video support drupal' brings up some other interesting pages.

If your going to play with video then the best module is video module. http://drupal.org/project/video. You can install on shared host even with Zencoder support.

Thank you for your advice. But what is Zencoder? Is is a new program language?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am new to drupal.
