Maybe this issue is a dup of #308263: Allow privileged users to bypass the validation of menu items

This comes close to #1251188: Set unique titles for user/register, user/password, and user/login menu items

I thought #190867: Remove access check for anonymous users when creating aliases was about this but it isn't.

Related issues are

#236915: Cannot create path alias for 'user/login'
#987362: "Login or register to post comments" links take user nowhere

Is this related or duplicate of #1337546: Cannot reorder 'User Menu' items for user/register user/login as these are not accessible by admin maybe?

-- edit, just saw this was already crosslinked the other way around :)

#1251188: Set unique titles for user/register, user/password, and user/login menu items is a similar problem ... as when we can edit the item order we should be able to edit them.

#308263: Allow privileged users to bypass the validation of menu items is quit a messy issue so I keep this one open for now.

An ugly patch leads to menu edit screens like

Edit menu Tools | drupal.d8.png

and

Edit menu User account menu | drupal.d8.png

Can we do better?

With the patch I can reorder a lot of menu items. Which is cool but it looks ugly :(

Is this still relevant? The user menu only ever displays the My Account and Login/Logout links; the other links listed don't appear in the user menu so I'm not sure what the point of reordering them would be.

clemens.tolboom’s picture

@pameeela you have to logout to see the other items ... see also the SQL in the IS

pameeela’s picture

you have to logout to see the other items

When I’m logged out I just see ‘Login’

If these links aren't displayed in the menu, I think it would be really confusing if they appeared in the list of links. So I'm just not sure what the logical action is for this, assuming that they do still exist in the DB.

I too don't see the use case for this. I even made test links for user/login and user/register so I could access them via the UI. It was confusing having 4 links instead of 2, some going to the same page.

Logged in
My account ---> /user/1
test user login ---> /user/1
test user register ---> user/1/edit

Logged out
test user login ---> /user/login
test user register ---> user/register, with create new account tab selected
Log in ---> /user/login

Seems like a works as designed.

That's a D7 issue and it doesn't have much info. I don't want to close it if it's a valid issue, but I don't understand the issue.

More information about this issue was asked for 11 months ago.

In #26 @clemens.tolboom, who has been involved in the issue since 2011, suggests this can be closed. And since there has been no further information provided, I am closing this as outdated.

If you are experiencing this problem on a supported version of Drupal reopen the issue, by setting the status to 'Active', and provide complete steps to reproduce the issue (starting from "Install Drupal core").

Thanks!

Thanks for closing.

@pameeela as #308263-107: Allow privileged users to bypass the validation of menu items refers to a closed issue and #308263-110: Allow privileged users to bypass the validation of menu items was set back to D7 (fixed for D8) closing both issues seems like a good idea to me.
