Required fields not "caught"

After a couple of hours of investigation, I found the problem source. The type of the main form element is 'item' which cannot be required.
I understand the structure of the widget form, but I think it needs to be reconsidered because only input fields can be required.

Same here with Taxonomy field required, i can post the article without the required taxonomy field tag filled.

Finally, the patch is not fully working, I'll upload a new one soon
