I just installed the module for the first time and as it didn't seem to be working, went to check the README to see if I had something configured wrong. But there's no README. Shouldn't there be one?

There is no README, but you can just look at the home page of the project which contains all the information. The README would just be duplicating this.

As it turned out a README wouldn't have helped in my case - this module and iTweak Upload are incompatible, which was what was causing my problem. I thought it was standard Drupal practice to include a README, but it's certainly your call.
