Hope I don't write a duplicate, but I didn't find this request. So I think it should work.

I maintain a site with 600+ nodes (which is not too much compared to some other sites).
Now I needed to implement the Workbench and Workbench_access modules which really works fine for our purpose.
Only since the site is already existing it is a lot of work to assign every page again to the sections.

It would be awesome during setup that you can select menu as access scheme and then you can have a button saying that workbench access automatically assigns all nodes to a section according to their position in the menu.

You probably don't have much time to care about this feature, but anyway, maybe you like the idea too.

Please to this old issue in my case i am using the taxonomy scheme.

After setting up everything , existing content are assigned to the top term and even user 1 can not change them please how to change

The best solution would be to use an existing field for access control rather than the provided sections field.

If you are using the normal Content overview page -- NOT a view -- then operations to change sections are supported, though #2895338: Workbench Access I do not see within admin/content the 'Set editorial section' option needs review to fix a known bug.

Otherwise, at this point a database query is required.

The Drupal 7 version is no longer under active development. If bugfixes don't get reviewed, they are not getting committed.
