Creating Delta Snapshots
With the Delta module installed and enabled, navigate to admin/appearance/delta in your browser. Here you will find the list of Deltas and links to the UI for creating your first Delta snapshot.
- Click the link labeled +add. At this page you will define the basic settings for your Delta snapshot.
- Give it a title. Be sure to be as specific as you want so you will know what each title is when interacting with other modules.
- Give it a description. This will be displayed in the list of your subtheme’s Delta snapshots. It is here to explain the purpose of this Delta snapshot.
- Next, set which theme should be used as the basis for your Delta. This will typically be the Omega subtheme you are working with.
- Select a parent template. **DEPRECATED** For now this setting is not used so it can be left at -none- and ignored
- By default “Override all values” is selected. For most all use-cases now you will want to leave this setting alone. If you have a reason to set it otherwise you will know why.
- Click Save
Once you have created a new Delta snapshot you will see it listed at admin/appearance/delta with all other Delta snapshots you have created.
Select “configure” to begin customizing your new Delta snapshot’s theme settings. We will be discussing this in detail in the next section of the handbook. (To be completed at our next Documentation Sprint.)
After you have configured your Delta snapshot settings, you will want to add a new Context with a reaction of "Delta: Your New Delta" so that your new delta will be applied where you need it. Make sure the Context module is installed and enabled. We will be including more information about using Context in this handbook after our next Documentation Sprint (Date/Time TBD).
Optionally, for more information about Delta see this screencast on Using Delta for contextual layouts.
Comments
When I am creating a Delta
When I am creating a Delta snapshot, 'Only override different values' is the default selection rather then 'Override all values' as stated in step #6. Should I leave it alone or switch it to 'Override all values'?
