AudioField only accepts files of type .txt - not any sort of audio?

Eventually I'll be moving to Drupal 7, and the plan there is to move from using the Audio module (which even now only has dev versions for 6.x) to the AudioField module. I've got a bunch of audio to upload this week, so I figured I'd make the switch in modules now.

I *thought* I had everything done correctly, but the only file type my new field will allow me to add is .txt -- obviously not useful here. I also cannot get to admin/settings/audiofield to select the default player.

Something obviously went wrong (I doubt it's a problem with the module itself), but I'm not sure what.
