That has been my primary use case.
The module screenshot even shows products ;)

That said, I'm sure there are still present bugs that might obstruct your usage of the module.
The patch in #1310382: Problems when there are multiple widgets on the same page made it work for an internal project, but I still need to invest time to see if anything else needs to be done on that front.
