Please add Assamese language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assamese_language) to localize.drupal.org (I did check at http://bit.ly/9xdtL that there is no existing issue for this language).
Please add the user a6hiji7 as the team lead. At present there is no other contributor but expect more contributors.

I will like to know the correct process for starting a translation project on localize.drupal.org. As I see a number of comments regarding different languages are lying unanswered for a long time. Is there any other steps to follow along with writing a comment here?

We'd need the plural formula for your language, as per http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/l10n/pluralforms. Can you provide that?

Dear Gabor,

I am sorry, I had been busy for sometime and had not checked this thread. The plural formula for the Assamese language is same as that of the Bengali language (please see the entry against Bengali in http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/l10n/pluralforms) i.e. "nplurals=2; plural=(n != 1)".

I’ve just volunteered to help out in the queue for new languages on l.d.o., together with JohnNoc, so hopefully there will be less waiting time now.

I need one more piece of info: Do you know of anyone existing efforts to translate Drupal to Assamese?

I've created the team at http://localize.drupal.org/languages/as and made a6hiji7 the initial owner / admin. You can add any number of other admins and manage group level permissions of people.

Please report issues as you find them! Your team members can now join and help import existing translations and work on more translations. Anybody can sign up for being a member of the team and they will be able to submit suggestions right away. The initial admin can change permissions of people signing up, widening their capabilities. See http://localize.drupal.org/node/616 for explanation on how. It is highly suggested to grant both moderation permissions to those who you also designate admins.

The URL alias was set to "as" so the link to the team was giving a 404. I corrected the alias (languages/as)

@a6hiji7, the Assamese team can now be accessed in the correct URL... http://localize.drupal.org/languages/as
