Hi,

What's the best way to make these menus pretty - CSS?
Can I make it "explode" with hover over? Do I need to do that somehow with Javascript?
Any good pointers / tutorials on how to do that?

You theme a taxonomy menu exactly the same way you would theme a menu. Check out http://drupal.org/documentation/theme
