I don't see a disable functionality within the flag module. Disabling the "i like" flag on the message again works and disabling the flag module works as well.

Can you point out how you disable that flag itself?

Nevermind, it's delete you mean. and after that you can enable it again.

Ehm... not pretty sure if we understand each other. I deleted the flag at: admin/structure/flags

Yes we do :)
I am working on a general solution. For instance the patch showed me that you can't have two flag on on activity message handled properly. So I am trying to fix that now.
