Would be great if this were upgraded -- for the accessibility improvements alone.

markwk commentedIt would be Herculean! Until Phase2 or Acquia upgrade their social / og projects to D7, I don't see any reason to even think about this.

btopro commentedmachine port in the queue, clearly not stable as og and spaces are still in flux but its a necessary start. Also will be compiled with a .make file for proper packaging
Comment #5
markwk commentedYeah, Drupal 7 would be cool, but I still think it's not really necessary. I can't remember where I saw the comment from someone at Phase2 and their comment was: upgrading to Drupal 7 needs to carry with it some inherently superior thing. At present, I don't really see it. At least in terms of what atrium / elms is already doing.
btopro commentedAs 7 is in the works, marking this as a duplicate of this thread which is patching and actively working towards a D7 version: #1665734: Installation for D7 fails

junkbox commentedHow stable is the d7 version? I understand it's dev, but is it suitable enough for a production site? I only ask because it's getting cumbersome running multiple versions on different sites. For instance I have a couple OpenAtrium sites that in reality could never be upgraded to d7, so my fear is that in a couple years when d6 is a fond memory that I'd be starting from scratch again for those sites and possibly this one.
I've read through the docs and watched the videos and really like this project and will implement it regardless of version but I'm curious if I shouldn't just jump right in with d7 version and suffer the possible bugs?
Anyone else running the d7 version live or would it be better just to stick with what works and hope the gods find a miraculous d6 to d7 upgrade path that doesn't wreck the works?

ELMS isn't currently in (direct) active development for D7 but all of contrib associated to it is. As ELMS is built on the same stack as open atrium it will be easier to upgrade once the Spaces / OG / Purl stack of drupal technologies stabilizes a bit. Spaces / Purl still have their share of issues. There has been a lot of movement by P2 on OpenAtrium for D7 via contribu project stabilizing (OG has stabilized a lot in recent months).
The stuff in dev here isn't stable in any way. With free technologies I don't concern myself much with "is it still supported". Unix doesn't see many bug fixes yet seems to be working just fine in its relatively unmaintained state (relative to initial build). PHP 6.x will (maybe) some day exist yet 5.x will run for several decades I'd imagine. We run a mix of D6 and D7 in-house and plan on running D6 for several years unless there's a compelling reason to upgrade some legacy stuff. If it aint broke don't fix it is how I view several of those sites (especially w/ the platform flexibility of D6 and D7). D8 won't make D7 any worse off, it just won't see as much "shiny" and the web seems to be getting less "must have" shiny these days. All opinion though, just be prepared to be the point person on running / bug fixing something should you run into an issue. As always, OSS is "buyer"-beware :)
