I have recently upgraded my site, and in the process I have found that my drupal files folder is full of files (mostly jpegs from the image module derivatives system) that don't belong to "real" nodes.

I therefore want to run a quick audit of what is in the files table (and hence files that are owned by a node) compared to what is actually in the folder. I can then prune the folder of its orphans and keep things neat and tidy!

Does such a module exist? If not I'm happy to try writing something but I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

If such a module doesn't exist is it something other people would find helpful / useful (tells me how much effort I will invest in this!)

I tried searching the downloads page under Utility and File Management categories, but from the available descriptions nothing sounded as if it did this, unless I missed the small print!
