Hi,
We would like to offer Open Atrium (intranet) as a hosted software as a service. A company could purchase a hosted OA with unlimited users and projects etc only limited by disk space and data transfer. We are a small hosting business using WHMCS/WHM/Cpanel, but are open to other ways of being able to set this up. We also have Softaculous which has autoinstall features that might be utilised
It is likely each client would have their OA under a subdomain therebusiness.ourdomain.com or possibly if they were hosting a domain/website with us, as a subdomain of it. We may actually prefer it though if every client had to go to the same location to log in i.e. intranet.ourdomain.com
One concern is how we mass manage, add features and upgrade?
Please PM me with your ideas/offers
Thanks in advance : )

I agree, Aegir is probably
I agree, Aegir is probably the way to go. It offers a lot of cpanel-type features, but it's built around Drupal and makes managing the hosted sites easy. Last I looked, it did not work under cpanel. I'd probably start with a bare linux install and build from there.
Without Aegir, you can probably do a lot with drush - but it's not quite as slick.

I believe this may lie
I believe this may lie outside the the licensing you agree to when using Open Atrium - which would make it illegal. You should check very carefully before deciding to go this route.

Open Atrium is open source,
Open Atrium is open source, just like Drupal, and this code is licensed and made available under the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 3. http://openatrium.com/terms-of-use

don't think so-- openatrium is nothing but a distro of drupal which much also be GPL. users of openatrium are only bound by the gpl the same as with drupal.
EDIT: I just checked, and the license included with openatrium is the gpl.
Offering paid Drupal hosting
Offering paid Drupal hosting is allowed under its license - GPL V2
As a Drupal distribution, Open Atrium is covered by the same license.
WOW, go away for a few days
WOW, go away for a few days and heaps of responses... thanks everyone for this.
So i'll investigate Aegir and see how it might link up with our systems!
Re the licensing... I agree its under GPL... they've produced a FANTASTIC distro for us all... full respect!
