I can't find the guestbook entry listed under SPAM modules filter list and so I can not activate it for the guestbook module. Is there any workaround??

You don't have to acitviate spam-module for guestbook.
If both modules are installed each new guestbook entry is automatically checked against the entries in custom filters and url filters.

Thank you a lot, I just didnt't realize that it is working yet and thought I really had to activate it under the spam module
