I think it would be a convenience for site administrators to be able to filter the content with ajax instead of a full page refresh to speed things up. This way they could see the form elements and buttons update/change instantly instead of having to rely on 'noticing' them.
Also, I remember when I started with Drupal and I thought the content filter was the most confusing thing. Attached is a quick screenshot of what would make more sense to me.
