The shouts are not automatically updated on the receiving end. The receiver have to refresh the page to see the latest shouts.

Have you enabled automatic updates in admin/config/shoutbox?

Possibly a duplicate of #1444960: AJAX not working on Firefox? This one is specific to Firefox... is that what you are using?

I am experiencing the same issue with D6 (latest Pressflow and Shoutbox). I have Firefox, but adblock is disabled on my domain.
I discovered that Boost static caching was causing this problem.
