I thought "what a great module!" but after installing it got very soon disappointed: My Hoster hasn't got installed PEL :-(
I started a support-request to my hoster and got the answer, that this functionality is represented on my webspace by HP Modul Exif (http://de3.php.net/manual/de/ref.exif.php).
I don't know how much work it is to you but if possible I would welcome very much if I alternativly could use this library instead of PEL. Maybe it is possible to have a setting-option for choosing which library to use?

David Lesieur commentedHi blackfox,
The reason to use PEL is that it provides much more functionality than those basic PHP functions you are referring to. I would not mind if someone wanted to add support for other Exif libraries, but I have no plan for developing such a library myself.
However, if you can install Drupal modules on your hosting account, you should be able to install PEL too. If your host doesn't provide any way for you to install PHP code by yourself, then you need to find a more flexible hosting solution. :-) Note that PEL requires PHP 5, you should check that too.

blackfox commentedups, sorry - don't know why, but I haven't read carefully. Of course I can upload PEL to my modules-directory and now it works very well :-)
sorry again
