A client is having trouble with the Image module. She says she's doing the same thing every time she uploads an image, but sometimes she gets a thumbnail, preview, and original (which is the normal, expected behavior) and sometimes she gets just the original without the thumbnail.

Can you think of why this might be happening?

Its possible it has to do with the image presets in administer -> image

compare the sizes of the files shes having trouble with, with the limits set.

Now check out what I found. In files/images/ there are missing thumbnail images, but in files/images/temp/ all the thumbnails are there. So, they're being created but not copied into files/images/ where they would do us some good.

Why in the world would that be?

try to replicate the problem to see what error is any is given either in watchdog table or in apache error logs.

are you using the lastest release of the image module ?
are you using any tother modules that would effect images ? like imagecache ?

I assume the permissions on the folders are set properly ?

I have exactly the same problem, not only with image module but with video module too.
Both were working last week and now no thumbs whatsoever. They are created in files/images/temp but for some reason they stay there.
No errors in watchdog or apache errors logs.

Also using IMCE to upload images the thumbs are created in files/u1 , u2 etc but not displayed

I cannot figure it out :(
Any help will be appreciated

Still do NOT know why it didn't work but i disabled all modules image related and then enabled them 1x1, without the IMCE. It seems to work fine and all the thumbnails just reappeared.
