Automatically populate part of the breadcrumb trail

Is it possible (in any version of CB) to populate the first part of the trail with the trail of another node. For example if I have a nodereference field could I have the breadcrumb to whatever the referenced field node's breadcrumb is and then add additional values after that?

Eg my collection nodes are at Home > Collections > Listing
and my item nodes should be at Home > Collections > Listing > NODEREFERENCEFIELD

I can easily do this by entering each path and title one at a time but it would be better if it was automatic.
