Creating a node type

First and most importantantly, I'm running Drupal 4.5 stable.
I'm in the process of qritting a quickie module (I did a copy of the recipe module and hacked it to fit my needs).
I've gotten what I thought to be everything, however some issues have risen.
I don't seem capable of associating my module to the taxonomoy tree.
Things I've noticed is the author and date aren't listed in the module "node" when created. In the "create content" section, I can only see my module in the main menu (left side) while the text in the right side of the page that holds the descriptions, my module doesn't appear.
This morning I tiled the two modules directly and line by line compared the two, in an attempt to see if I forgot a section.

Am I missing something obvious -- or not so obvious?
I've dug through the 4.5 API for anything of value, but couldn't find anything...
