learning Chinese

I want to set up a site for learning Chinese characters. There is a flashcard module that can do this but I can't make it work for 4.7 and for 5.1 is doesn't work. Any other suggestions? I don't actually need anything fancy -- just a database, or an index card system, where I can put in characters and display English translations.
