First of all. Thanks for this great distribution.

I've created a website with private content. Is there a way to make the files attached to private content private as well? At the moment, files can be accessed by anyone through hotlinking.

Since the OpenScholar distribution is based on D6, you might want to have a look into the Private Upload Module
