We have one of our sites which we would like to repurpose. This is going to involve major edits and a lot of new content. My thought was to put the site into maintenance mode during the change since there really is no current need for users to access the existing content until a new launch is made. In the past, I have only used site maintenance for upgrades where I logged in, put the site in maintenance mode, made the changes, and took it back out of maintenance mode all in one session. The current effort is going to take some days and there is more than one administrator. If I go to the site now that it is in maintenance mode, there is no option to log in. So, how do I let it know to log me in and give access?

Found my own answer ... add ?q=user to the URL! I thought I remembered something like that, but couldn't remember the details.

I just updated the core Drupal, but the above link don't work.

So how to turn off the maintenance mode if I can't even access the administrator panel
