I'm not sure what you mean by "multiple items" exactly, but couldn't you manage this with some Views/Views Slideshow/FlexSlider Views Slideshow hackery as-is?
Yes, I meant what you explain in #3
In fact, I've been thinking about this and it may be really complicated.
I was working on a "responsive" site with a 1140 framework and I wanted to have a set of three content items on top of the page in a slider of 6 total items. But with a responsive website, it would mean that if the device is smaller than a regular screen the slider should display only 2 or 1 element at a time when you resize the window. I'm not sure if Flexslider is enough to do that.
I don't see anywhere in the Flex Slider api where this would be supported as described. I'll have to close this since I won't be implementing Flex Slider features directly. Only ensuring existing features are all available.
as a work around or partial solution, you could try the Views Field Views Module. You could create a view for each of the slides, then create a view that would make each of the Flexslide slides out of those views.

minoroffense commentedI'm not sure, but we can leave this as an open feature request. Once we have a full release, I'll look into it.

minoroffense commentedI assume he's referring to a feature in Views Slideshow Cycle where you can group multiple result sets together on one slide.
Ex:
Your view generates 12 sets of fields
Your slideshow is set to group every 3 set of fields together
The resulting slideshow has 4 slides instead of 12
This feature is dependent on Flexslider supporting complex HTML structures within each slide. We'd have to investigate to see if it's possible.
