Unfortunately this means that all users with edit privileges must also have "administer og menu" to prevent menu items from disappearing.

It would be great if the form item would remain even without og menu permissions but with #access set to false.

Yeah ... this happens in D6 also.

og_menu.js sets the "Delete this menu item." to checked. Giving the user "administer menus" fixes this.

Is this module still maintained?

Tried this with latest dev, and it appears to be fixed. May have had to do with moving the permission to be group-specific.

I'm having a similar issue with the latest dev release. Can't elaborate much at this point, as it's the client who keeps on triggering the deletion of the menus.
