AKA pretty damn broken here.

The Star Widget is working perfectly so I assume I have everything in place correctly.

When I set up the custom widget it only see the first char of a label.
Then when voting it takes the user to the node of that first char. 1-7 = nodes 1-7
No vote is recorded.

I have about a week to go live mode and need to decide if this is fixed, fixable or to apply an existing widget that works?

I too have experienced the same issue when creating a custom widget, only in my case i was building a simple +1 type voting widget.
